Any buy X get Y free combination: buy one get one, buy two get one, buy three get two. You set the buy and get quantities and the total fills in on its own. The deal also repeats as the cart grows, so with buy two get one a cart of six units earns two free.
Do shoppers need a discount code?
No. The deal applies automatically at checkout through Shopify's native discount engine once the cart qualifies.
Can the free item be a different product?
BOGO runs on the same product, which is what shoppers expect from buy one get one. To give a different product away, run a free gift offer instead. Bundlex has one built for exactly that.
Will a BOGO hurt my margins?
You stay in control of the math. Use buy two get one instead of one plus one, and when variants are priced differently the free units are always the cheapest qualifying ones. If you would rather give a percent off than a free unit, run a volume discount instead; Bundlex does those too.
