Adding upsells to an offer

Upsells are optional paid products a customer can tick to add to their order, shown inside an offer alongside its other items. Each one has its own price, discount, and variant picker, and ticking or unticking an upsell never affects the offer's own discount.

Use them for the natural companion purchase: a carrying case with the device, a refill with the starter kit, gift wrapping with anything.

Upsells belong to one offer. If you want optional products shown below all your offers, that's a separate feature. See the Upsell offer block.

Add an upsell

  1. Open your bundle and edit the offer you want to attach the upsell to.
  2. Find the Upsells section and add a product.
  3. Set the discount for that upsell: a percentage, a fixed amount, an exact price, or no discount at all if you want it offered at full price.
  4. Adjust the title, subtitle, and quantity if you want wording different from the product's own.

How customers see them

Upsells appear as an opt-in row below the offer's other items. Choose Checkbox or Toggle for the control, whichever suits your design.

If the upsell product has variants, the customer picks the size or color right on that row, without leaving the widget.

Per-upsell options

  • Pre-selected starts the checkbox ticked. Customers can still opt out, and it usually lifts take-up.
  • Only show when selected hides the upsell until the customer picks that particular offer, so your other offers stay uncluttered.
  • Link products makes the upsell's image and title link through to its own product page.

Upsells never break the offer

This is the important behavior. An upsell is always optional, so:

  • Unticking one does not reduce or void the offer's discount.
  • Adding one does not turn a plain quantity tier into a bundle.
  • Removing the upsell line from the cart later leaves the rest of the order discounted as normal.

That's what separates an upsell from a bundle cross-sell. A cross-sell is a required part of the bundle and the discount depends on it. An upsell is a bonus the customer can take or leave.

Sold-out upsells

An upsell whose product is out of stock renders unticked and disabled rather than blocking the offer, so a customer can still add the bundle itself. If the upsell has several variants, only the ones in stock are offered.

At cart and checkout

By default an upsell line shows the offer's name at checkout rather than its own title, so the whole order reads as one discount instead of a list of unrelated names. You can override that per line if you'd rather it read differently. See setting the discount label shown at checkout.
