Creating & managing bundles

How to edit, duplicate, activate, and delete a bundle

Every bundle you create in Bundlex moves through a simple lifecycle: you edit it, activate it to show it to customers, deactivate it to pause it, and duplicate or delete it as your offers change. This guide walks through each action from the dashboard list and the bundle editor.

Understanding the Draft and Published status

Each bundle carries a status badge that tells you whether customers can see it:

  • Draft: The bundle is saved in your dashboard but is not live. It does not apply any discount and does not show on your storefront.
  • Published: The bundle is live. It maps to one Shopify automatic app discount and shows to matching customers.

You will see this badge in two places: next to each bundle name in the dashboard list, and below the bundle name at the top of the editor.

Editing a bundle

Your saved bundles live on the dashboard, titled Bundle deals. You can open one for editing in two ways:

  1. Click the bundle name in the list, or
  2. Open the actions menu (the dots icon at the end of the row) and choose Edit.

This opens the editor, where you can change the bundle name, its offers and offer ladder, the widget design, the "Show widget on" rule, and the other settings. For details on building the offer ladder, see Add and edit offers.

Saving your changes

As soon as you change anything in the editor, Shopify's save bar appears at the top of the page with Save and Discard options. This bar tracks unsaved changes, so:

  • Click Save to keep your edits.
  • Click Discard to revert to the last saved version.
  • If you try to leave the page with unsaved changes, you are prompted before navigating away.

Saving a Published bundle keeps it Published and pushes your changes live. Saving a Draft bundle keeps it as a Draft.

Activating a bundle (publish)

Activating publishes a Draft bundle so customers can use it. Open the bundle, then click the Activate button. It is the primary button at the top of the editor and again in the action bar at the bottom. This moves the status from Draft to Published and creates the matching Shopify automatic discount.

Only one bundle set to apply to all products can be active at a time. If another all-products bundle is already published, Bundlex asks you to change the "Show widget on" setting on one of them before it can activate.

Shopify also caps each store at 25 active automatic discounts across all apps, not just Bundlex. If you hit that limit, you see a message asking you to deactivate or delete unused discounts. You can manage these in Shopify Admin under Discounts.

If you have not turned on the widget in your theme yet, the bundle still needs the app embed or app block enabled to appear on the storefront. See Activate the widget in your theme.

Deactivating a bundle (pause)

Deactivating pauses a live bundle without deleting it. Open a Published bundle and click Deactivate (available at the top of the editor and in the bottom action bar). You are asked to confirm, because the bundle will no longer be available to customers, though it stays in your dashboard.

Once deactivated, the bundle returns to Draft status. Your settings, offers, and design are all preserved, so you can activate it again at any time. Use this when you want to take an offer offline temporarily, for example between promotions.

Duplicating a bundle

Duplicating creates a full copy of an existing bundle, which is the fastest way to spin up a variation without rebuilding it. You can duplicate from either:

  • The dashboard row actions menu, choose Duplicate, or
  • The Duplicate button in the editor's bottom action bar.

The copy keeps all of the original's offers, design, and settings, and its name has " (Copy)" appended. If a bundle with that name already exists (for example, when you duplicate the same bundle twice), Bundlex adds a timestamp to the name so each copy stays unique. New duplicates start as Draft, so review and activate the copy when you are ready.

Deleting a bundle

Deleting removes a bundle permanently. You can delete from the dashboard row actions menu (Delete) or with the Delete button in the editor's bottom action bar. Either way, you are asked to confirm.

Deletion cannot be undone. The confirmation dialog warns that this action cannot be undone, so there is no way to recover a deleted bundle. If the bundle was Published, Bundlex also removes its automatic discount from Shopify as part of the delete.

If you only want to take a bundle offline temporarily, use Deactivate instead of Delete, since deactivating keeps the bundle in your dashboard for later.
